Beckenham Festival

1922 – 2020

Competitions in Music, Dancing and Speech & Drama

Held on weekends in October and November

Beckenham Festival is one of the largest amateur competitive performing arts festivals in the south-east of England. There are around 400 classes in Music, Dancing and Speech & Drama, with specialist adjudicators in all sections. As well as certificates and medals there are over 200 cups and trophies to be won. A “Musician of the Year” competition is held on the final Sunday, and the Festival acts as a qualifying heat for the All-England Dance Competition.

Beckenham Festival is affiliated to The British and International Federation of Festivals of which

Her Majesty the Queen is Patron.

In 2019 the Festival was held at Langley Park School for Boys, Beckenham;
Marian Vian Primary School, Beckenham; and St. George’s Church, Beckenham.

For information on how the Festival is run please go to the Frequently Asked Questions page.

UPDATES TO THE 2020 FESTIVAL DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS CRISIS

Music

In light of the Covid-19 crisis the Music committee has taken the decision to cancel
the 2020 Music Festival in November. We hope to see you again in 2021.

Dancing

It is with great regret The Beckenham Dance Festival 2020 will be cancelled.  Although indoor performances can resume from the 1st August, as a festival we cannot put in place procedures to follow all of the government guidelines.  Safety is our number one priority and we do not feel we can provide a safe competition. We look forward to seeing you back in 2021.

Speech & Drama

The Speech & Drama section will not take place this year.
